Over the years, Toni has observed that many pregnant patients do not fully understand the significant impact pregnancy can have on their relationships, mental health, and overall well-being. During one-on-one conversations, many patients have expressed concerns about feeling unprepared for childbirth, unsure of their birthing options, and uncertain about the additional responsibilities that come with motherhood. Although childbirth education is available, many hospital-based programs do not provide culturally responsive care. This gap can contribute to mistrust, lower participation in educational programs, and poorer maternal and infant health outcomes, particularly among African American families.
